After the reception party, David Hooks, the director of the edge of chaos informed me about the weld magazine publishing my exhibition which I was very grateful about.

THE GENIUS OF THE CROWD

there is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day

and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace

those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love

beware the preachers
beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
or are proud of it
beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average

but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
to kill anybody
not wanting solitude
not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
that differs from their own
not being able to create art
they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect

like a shining diamond
like a knife
like a mountain
like a tiger
like hemlock

contemporary portrait/figurative fine art paintings

I started posting on twitter that's why this blog has not been active lately. What I like about twitter is the quick feedback and response I get from posts, the followers are from different parts of the world and I get several re-tweets of my work without pushing. My twitter ID is @fidy84 incase one wants to follow my progress.

Craft fair at the park

IT WAS HOT, 80 Degrees. I loved taking to random people who came to my booth and met leads in the wider art market field. Most crafters who were selling art had smaller art pieces, postcard like art and size. I have a better understanding of future venues to attend or exhibit at. I sold 1 piece and learned that some people hardly make a cent in shows that run for three days. Working on a one woman show for my next exhibition.

BIRMIGHAM ALABAMA CRAFT FAIR

The Birmingham Alabama Art fair will be held at the Avondale park on the 12th, i.e on Saturday this week. I am working on smaller affordable pieces for the show. I am also working on the installation process and completion of previous unfinished works I'd put aside.I Hope the show is a success.

abstract art by Diana Afandi

I love how this this two canvases turned out.
I am having my first USA art show at the Avondale park in the next two weeks, 12th October 2013.
My very first shows after graduating from the Fashion and Design college were held in Mombasa Kenya five star hotels along the Diani beach in the south coast thanks to Dixie and John my Kenyan artist friends now exhibit in Europe. I just communicated with John who is exhibiting his silk paintings in Denmark this month.
While exhibiting my work in Mombasa Diani beach, I met a German couple who loved my style so much ,bought it in a span of 5 years before the wife died.
Wonder what the south of USA has in store for me.

stencil incorporated into art paintings

my latest painting are layered canvases of 16x20 and 8 x10 inches. The background canvas is the one I decided to stencil and paint on the one on the foreground. Trying something different. I swapped the elephant canvas with a floral one because the background color on the canvas was a trial piece.

the insecurity, ignorance and fear sermon.

both of the above and below canvases are 24''x36'', acrylic on canvas.
I hope I get a gallery to work with so that I don't have to worry about the internet marketing aspect of this journey that am on. My nursing school prerequisites are all done but my heart is entirely on art. Once am through with the target I' had set to accomplish ,its going to be decision time all over again.

I have just completed this painting which was painted using acrylics as a medium plus molding paste for some of the textural effects. In two weeks time I will be listing on behance.com for anyone who is interested in purchasing it.
